Hidden on the southern shore of Lake Brunner, fringed by some of the oldest protected podocarp rainforests in the world, Lake Brunner Lodge is a classic wilderness retreat. Established for more than a century, the Lodge’s polished timber panelling, log fires, book-lined library, snug restaurant, pool table and comfortable guest suites make this a lovely place to stay. Guest suites are large and well equipped, with an emphasis on comfort and relaxation. We also have a self-contained two-bedroom cottage if you after some more privacy. The lodge has been generating its own power since the 1930s, sourced from the stunning Carew Falls located directly behind the lodge. Hydroelectric power is our main source of power and we are extremely proud to use a renewable resource that is right in our backyard. During your stay at Lake Brunner Lodge, you can enjoy relaxing by the fire in the library with a great book or be enchanted by the surrounding natural environment, taking a walk in the surrounding native bush, kayaking around the lake, mountain biking or fishing the nearby rivers for the South Island Brown trout. At night exploring the nearby native bush will also surprise you with lights of glow worms. Our in-house restaurant offers a breathtaking setting, from the elevated deck you can watch the world go by as you enjoy a great meal. Lake Brunner Lodge welcomes small weddings, with 9 large en-suite rooms and a 2 bedroom cottage, enabling up to 21 guests to stay in the actual lodge and the ability of further guests to book campervans and stay in our camping grounds located directly next to the lodge.
